Privacy Policy
Draft prepared: August 16, 2026. No prior version existed for this portal.
What this covers
This policy covers the My Plumber Expert customer portal — the booking page, the sign-in and account dashboard, and the booking-management page you may reach from a text or link. It does not cover the business's other systems (its internal scheduling/office system, its phone line, or its accounting software) except where noted below.
What information we collect
When you use this portal, we collect the information you type into it directly:
- When you book a visit: your full name, phone number, email address (optional), the service address, and a description of the problem you're having.
- When you sign in: your phone number, used to text you a one-time sign-in code. Signing in also sets a small browser cookie that keeps you signed in — see "Cookies" below.
- When you use your account dashboard: whatever you enter to request a new appointment (type of work, description, preferred date/time), your decision on an estimate (approved/declined), any photo or document you upload, and your chosen notification preferences (how you'd like to hear from us).
- When you pay a balance: nothing beyond what's already on file. As of this draft, the "Pay Now" flow in this portal is a clearly labeled TEST MODE stand-in — no real payment happens, and no card or bank account numbers are collected by this portal at all, now or in its planned real version (see "Payments" below).
- Automatically: standard technical information any web server sees (your IP address, browser type) is used only to apply anti-abuse limits (for example, limiting how many sign-in codes can be requested in a short time) — it is not used to build a profile of you.
Why we collect it
We use this information only to schedule and complete the plumbing service you're requesting: to find or confirm your account, to send a technician to the right address for the right problem, to contact you about your appointment, and to show you your own account information (upcoming visits, past jobs, property and equipment on file, estimates, and balance) when you sign in.
Who it's shared with
This portal is the customer-facing part of My Plumber Expert's business systems — it is not operated by a separate company. Information you enter here is sent to the business's own internal scheduling and customer-management system (referred to internally as the CRM/Sync platform) so office staff can see and act on your request. It is not sold, and it is not shared with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.
Two narrow exceptions, both existing tools used to run the business, not separate data buyers:
- Address lookup: if you use the address-suggestion feature while typing your service address, what you type may be sent to Google's Places address-lookup service (or, if that's unavailable, a similar free service called Photon) purely to suggest matching addresses as you type — the same way most map apps work.
- Payments (once turned on): the business plans to process real payments through QuickBooks Payments, its payment processor. When that goes live, the portal is designed to redirect you to a QuickBooks-hosted payment page rather than collecting your card or bank details itself. This is not active yet — see "Payments" below.
Payments — current status
No real payments are processed by this portal today. The "Pay Now" button currently leads to a page explicitly labeled TEST MODE that simulates a successful or failed payment with no real money, and no card or bank information collected, anywhere. This will be updated once real payment processing is turned on.
Cookies
Signing in sets one cookie used only to keep you signed in on this device — it identifies your session, not you personally, and is not used for advertising or tracking across other websites. We are not aware of any advertising or third-party tracking cookies set by this portal.
How long we keep your information
Honest answer: this business has not yet defined a specific data-retention period, and this draft will not invent one. This is an open question for the owner to decide (with legal input if needed) — for example, how long booking and account records are kept after your last visit. Until a retention policy is set, treat this as unresolved rather than assume any particular timeframe.
Your choices and how to reach us
You can ask what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting the business directly:
If you're signed in, you can also change how we contact you (call/text/email) yourself, at any time, from the Notification preferences section of your account dashboard. Texting STOP to any text from us always opts you out of texts, regardless of what's set there.
Changes to this policy
As this portal changes, this page will be updated to keep describing what actually happens, not what was originally planned. Once this has had a real legal review, that review date will be noted here too.
Questions about this draft
Reminder: this page is a starting point written to be factually accurate about this codebase today, not a substitute for legal advice. Before this portal collects real customer data at scale, the owner should have this reviewed (and, where needed, rewritten) by an actual attorney or a reputable legal template service, particularly the retention-period question above.
